[[Alrighty, it's time for everyone's favorite Scotsman to take his turn. We'll be falling back on the old 'Enterprise becomes sentient, plays matchmaker' routine. I'm not quite sure how this is going to work itself out, but I'll be playing both Scotty and the Enterprise herself. I suppose you can just post your as characters, interact for a couple posts, and then I'll step in and, dunno, lock you two into a supply closet or summat.]]

Ion storms. It was always ion storms.

Somehow, sub-atomic particles always managed to flit their way in to each and every situation and wreak havoc. It seemed to Scotty that every other week his beautiful ship was converging with parallel universes, mucking about in the past, and generally fucking with every law of physics.

Most of the time he could rectify the problem before it got too out of hand - sometimes the crew didn't even notice the difference.

But as Scotty stood there, slack-jawed staring at the computer console, he decided that today would be different.

Against the shiny white plasma screen blinked seven words in dark, stylistic text:

'Would you like to play a game?'

And yes, he really, really would.

The notes trailed off as Emily's fingers stilled.

She thought she had heard something... someone saying her name...
7th-Jul-2009 02:28 am (UTC)
Scotty frowned at the distinct lack of girlish screaming. He hit a button, letting static fill the intercom to her room. A couple more switches hit caused the lights to flicker momentarily, and yet another dropped the temperature a degree or two down.

"Emily Rose~" he whispered over the static.

Emily grinned.

"I'm not afraid of ghosts, Scotty." She said aloud, looking toward the comm. "At least, I'm assuming it's you, Scotty. If not, whoever you are, Scotty's going to be annoyed that you're messing with the comm system."
7th-Jul-2009 02:43 am (UTC)
Scotty coughed violently, barely turning off the comm in time. Curse that girl.

He flicked it back on. "Lass, you do know that you're infuriating, don't you?"
7th-Jul-2009 02:50 am (UTC)
Emily laughed as she turned away from the makeshift piano that consisted of a portable keypad and table.

"Sorry, Scotty. It was a good try though and would have had quite a few other girls shaking." Emily glanced at the clock. "Did you want something?"
7th-Jul-2009 02:54 am (UTC)
"Nothing in particular." He absentmindedly stroked the shiny chrome of the computer console. "Things are afoot, my dear. Mysterious things."

The screen displaying Michaels lit up briefly.

"If you're interested, you know where to find me," he said distractedly, switching the comm off.
7th-Jul-2009 03:06 am (UTC)
Emily frowned at the comm thoughtfully. Scotty had sounded a bit... off.

Sighing, she downed the rest of her drink before going off to see what he had gotten himself into this time.

She moved to the turbo lift and pressed the appropriate button but nothing happened.
7th-Jul-2009 03:08 am (UTC)
Tearing his attention away from the befuddled Lieutenant Michaels, Scotty broke into a grin and switched the comm on again.

"You might want to find a different way of getting down here, lassie," he warned.
7th-Jul-2009 03:11 am (UTC)
"What did you do?" Emily asked, suspicious now. "You're not drunk, are you?"

She really didn't want to take the stairs... and being on a ship the size of the Enterprise, there were a LOT of stairs. A LOT.
7th-Jul-2009 03:15 am (UTC)
"I haven't done anything!" Scotty protested, waving his arms wildly, even though he knew she couldn't see him. "Really, this time it's not my fault."
7th-Jul-2009 03:18 am (UTC)
They did just pass through an Ion Storm... Emily sighed.

"Are the stairs safe, at least?"
7th-Jul-2009 03:21 am (UTC)
"Ehm, most likely?" Scotty said helpfully. He really should be focusing on fixing this problem instead of playing jester for his beautiful, now sentient, ship.

But this was his beautiful, now sentient, ship they were talking about.

Perhaps the problem would resolve itself.

Yeah.
7th-Jul-2009 03:34 am (UTC)
"Great." Emily muttered, moving toward the door that hid the emergency stairway.

The stairs were surprisingly well lit and clean, which was a relief. It was very rare that the turbolifts broke down, even in battle, but it was common sense to have them. Can't have people stranded on random floors, now could they.

Emily began the decent downward, only risking a glance over the edge once before moving closer to the wall.
7th-Jul-2009 05:24 pm (UTC)
Scotty watched Emily's descent, feeling a sneaky grin spread over his face.

"Is someone afraid of heights?" he called into the intercom.
7th-Jul-2009 05:39 pm (UTC)
Emily glanced at the intercom overhead.

"No, I'm not," she said, a bit too quickly. "I'm afraid of falling. Big difference."
